Waterfowler’s Society
As waterfowl hunters, we are part of a unique and long-standing tradition that has been preserved throughout the generations. From professional guides to the casual weekend duck hunter we are all proud and passionate about our sport. The Waterfowler’s Society was created to recognize the individuals that have put their passion to the test.
For the past century big game hunters have had two places to share their accomplishments and trophies with the world – Safari Club International and the Boone & Crockett Clubs. What about waterfowl hunters? That’s where the Waterfowl Society was born. The society awards a variety of levels, from those who harvest all the N.A. geese, to those who’ve harvested all the N.A. divers, with the ultimate recognition going to those who have harvested all 37 species of North American migratory waterfowl. This takes dedication, time, and lots of travel. We now want to recognize those individuals that have lead our sport in an exciting direction and their commitment to their goal. |

Levels of Membership
Master Waterfowler |
 |
All 37 species of North American Migratory Birds. This is based on the 2008 federal regulations and the current scientific data available determining the different species. We have not included all the sub-species of birds, which there are a large number of geese and ducks. With new scientific information always coming to light this list always has the possibility of changing. Applicants are only required to have the current birds in the list. We try to stay on top off all the new information coming out of the scientific community, but if someone has more information or a new study adding or deleting a species please contact us so we can update. |

The Other Societies
The Society levels, other than Master Waterfowler, have been created as stages to the final goal. The birds in each group are based off of the taxonomy information currently available in 2008. We have combined some birds into groups that are not scientifically grouped together. The Diver Society was expanded beyond the general Aythyinae subfamily. In this group we have included some birds from both Oxyurinae and Merginae subfamilies. We have done this to keep the Sea Duck Society including only what we, as duck hunters, would consider true sea ducks, even though some of the birds have salt glands, entering them into the Merginae subfamily. Following with this we felt some of the Merginae subfamily would be more appropriate under the Diver Society. We have discussed this with a group of dedicated duck hunters and came to these conclusions. We are always willing to discuss the reasoning with the birds included under each Society, please feel free to contact us to discuss. |
